Residencies form an integral part of Martina O’Brien’s research based practice. She has participated in a number of international residences with the support of the Arts Council of Ireland, Creative Europe, the European Commission and the Goethe Institut. These include Extreme ’24 Arctic Ocean Marine Expedition, with Ocean Census & the Arctic University of Norway; Oslofjord Marine Expedition with the University of Oslo, Norway; the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), UK; the European Commission, Italy and EUCIDA Digital Artist in Residence, Espace Multimédia Gantner, France. O’Brien has also participated in a number of residencies in Ireland including UCD Parity Studios; The Artist Laboratory, Solstice Arts Centre; Landscape, Ecology & Environment Research Residency, Leitrim Sculpture Centre; Science Gallery Dublin and Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, amongst others.
